Brand-new Porsche Panamera S has positive debut, BMW Italia in the lead at the end of practice

The
ITALIAN SUPERSTARS CHAMPIONSHIP was back on-track on the uphill
Mugello racetrack today.
Team BMW Italia racer
Luca Cappellari topped the timesheets in 2:00.135, aboard his
BMW M3 E92, while the brand-new
Porsche Panamera S developed by
N.Technology made its official racing debut in the hands of
Fabrizio "Piedone" Giovanardi. The Italian was able to set the 5th fastest time in Practice 2, after suffering from earlier troubles, while the team seemed quite satisfied too, despite having been able to do only just some in-outs this morning definitely slowed down the weekend's development job.
The second fastest mark of the day (2:00.804) was clocked by
Gianni Morbidelli, aboard one of the other M3 E92 Coupé racecars fielded by Team BMW Italia. He was followed by team-mates
Thomas Biagi, currently leading the Italian Championship and
Stefano Gabellini. Behind the aforementioned Porsche Panamera of Giovanardi, Three
Mercedes C63s keep following, with
Caal Racing's Luigi Ferrara edging new
Team Romeo Ferraris hire
Francesco Sini and fellow team-mate
Max Pigoli. The top-10 was rounded out by
Christian Montanari (
RGA Sportmanship) and by the
Bellini-Bonamico duo, lined-up by
Vaccari Motori on a new BMW M3.
The
SUPERSTARS SERIES weekend is set to continue tomorrow at 12:20, with the running of a 30-minute Qualifying session. Both races will be taking off on Sunday, on a 25-minute + 1 lap distance, respectively at 10:10 and 15:20.
Live TV Coverage will be provided in Italy by Satellite and DTT Channel
Nuvolari TV.
